Remarkable Journey to Healing - Childhood Sexual Violence and Rape

I became a Certified Life Coach for one reason to help women who look like me, come from similar backgrounds break the silence of being victimized by sexual violence.

For years people asked me how did I overcome being victimized by childhood sexual violence, raise my eldest son who was conceived as result of a violence rape by my father when so many other women did not.

It was not easy, there are no straight paths forward. Learning to how to talk. How do you say out loud that not only did my father raped me but he impregnanted me with my eldest son.

On more than one occasion, I've broke down, crashed, been suicidal and homicidal on more than one occasion.

I've seen more than my share of therapists and behavioral specialists the majority tried to fit me into their boxes of low expectations - VICTIM or SURVIVOR.

I never defined myself as a victim. My father raped me, I was victimized as a result he believed he had the right to violate me.

As for being a survivor, as soon as women of color are born we are on survival mode. Since childhood we have subject to healthcare disparities, objectized, fetishized, dismissive, and devalued.

This journey of healing is for us to learn how to live, to thrive, to invest in ourselves thereby improving the economic and social status of our children, families, and communities.

This Journey to Healing is not about living life on survival mode but learning how to live, thrive, and the power of investing in yourself, your children, family, and communities.

Existing on survival mode is the unseen, unspoken, and unrecognized foundation to economic and healthcare disparities, leading to addictions, homelessness, and incarceration.
